Fallout

Centric: Alain Uskinglass

The PC’s arrive at the outskirts of the city Riinar. Raven separates himself from the group to look for his brother. The others join up with a shady character, who in exchange for pieces of gold and pints of ale, gives them the lay of the land.
The sin-city is split up into four quarters, each quarter run by a different family. In the East quarter, Bishop owns the distilleries and distributes ales and wines for the city. Although the Bishops are the weakest of the four, it’s day to day operations are run by Robert Parks.
In the South, Carlos runs distribution and manufacture of exotic materials which allows people to “get into touch with the divine within themselves”. Second strongest of the families, Carlos pretty much runs the things himself but uses tough guy Umberto to enforce his law.
In the West, prositution is situated in the old temple of Lilith. It is run by Martin Sweet, who is a lecherous man and a coward. His empire is pretty much run by tough guy Varick.
In the North, Tupalov runs a protection ring, arming his troops with rods, which have the ability to fire lightbolts at people. His trusted Torrent handles the day to day operation.
Smack in the middle is the Freezone, a dangerous place where no man dares to go. Rumours of cannibalsism, sexual devience and worse are common.
The PC’s head to the Church of Lilith and discover that it is now a whorehouse. There is nothing remaining of the old religion there but people are startled by the appearance of Alain, believing him to be Tupalov’s missing son. They hear rumours about a uprising in the city.
Heading to Tupalov, they learn that Tupalov’s wife has been transmutated to stone by “an ancient being” but Tupalovs now that Alain is not his son.
Departing, the group decides to helðp the resistance they learned about and use their means to set up a meeting with their leaders, learning them to be Torrent and Parks.

Flashbacks Alain, at the age of ten, encounters a drunk while clearing the tables at the Inn. The drunk is kind and benevolent, and treats Alain with respect. Never the less, he flirts with Alain’s mother and spends the night with her, like so many before him and after.
Alain has occuring encounter with this kind man.

Centric: None

The episode starts in General Denton’s office as the heroes explain to him that Malagant is behind the skeletal creature attacks and that this next night they’ll have something extra to fight with (see previous episode for clarification). The heroes are quickly added to the militia after deciding to first fend off the invading forces and then take care of the man summoning more skeletal creatures.

The huge monster
Night in Hazuth Kleg lasts 72 hours just like daytime, so the heroes and guards prepare for a long siege. They were given vials which would keep them awake for the whole of the night, courtesy of Hazuth’s armory. Suddenly they appeared, thousands upon thousands (around 9000) of skeletal creatures, and dead center there was a huge monster. It seemed as if it would make short work of Hazuth Kleg’s city walls. The heroes forced themselves to jump down from the city walls and outside of the city to face the monstrosity. Alain flew up into the air and shot his famous pew pew lazors, wearing him considerably down. Serbitar turned into an air elemental and attacked in this relatively secure form. Angelina and Raven/Phoenix charged forth on Angelina’s steed, her timing a bit off this would make for perfect banter between the two. Athena buffed Patrick up really nicely then moved out of the way and preceded to plant circles of daylight in a direct line from the monster up to the city gates. This being a backup plan in case the walls would fall, so that the skeletal creatures couldn’t enter because of their aversion to daylight. Patrick stood his ground at the city gates, preparing his mighty halberd, ready for the monster. Angelina failing to stop it and Raven failing to even hurt it, led to the monster finally arriving at the gates. And with 2 massive blows, Patrick fell it.

The city guards, being toughened after 4 years of constant battle, made quick work of the remaining skeletal creatures. The PC’s on the other hand headed straight for the summoning chamber. Serbitar lead the way and upon arrival they made hastily dispatched his guards and Serbitar took care of the summoner that was left. He also broke the summoning coffin and burned the book they used to summon the creatures (much to Alain’s dismay).

The PC’s were richly rewarded for their efforts and had the thanks of all the residents for ending their 4 year siege. Their next destination, Riinar.

Dark Days

Centric: Serbitar

The heroes meet Thomas Castle in the desert on their way from Celephais to Riinar. Thomas tells them of how their time in Celephais actually lasted for 4 years although it seemed like only a few days to them. Thomas has taken over charge of the new town the residents of Seawell built on this plane and wanted to find the heroes, especially Angelina and make sure they were alright. Angelina show’s Thomas her Paladin mount, it looking exactly like Thomas’s old mount much to delight and awe. Thomas also tells them that he met Hawk in Riinar. Hawk had apparently left the town a long time ago and was now a bounty hunter in Riinar. The happiest news he has to tell them is of Virginia, that she had her baby and both are healthy. Leon sighs of relief as do they all since they had been told that since the disappearance of Lilith no children have been born in this world. Thomas tells them of a town not far from here, but tells them to be vary here in the desert because the days last 72 hours and the nights the same. They hurry to the town, Hazuth Kleg.

Upon arriving they are quick to discover that the town holds a mysterious valuable treasure. They also discover that the town is under siege during night time from horrifying skeletal creatures and at all times by pirates. Separately both Patrick and Leon secure passage for Thomas back to Oriab, not knowing that they procured it on the same vessel. The ship, leaving as soon as they’ve finished trading with the locals, forces a premature farewell between Thomas and Angelina. The heroes do notice though that Hazuth Kleg is a very wealthy town and assume that the treasure they’re keeping must be something special.

Serbitar, learning that the skeletal creatures come from underneath the sand, decides to go investigate as an earth elemental. He finds an underground labyrinth and finally a summoning chamber with 2 men, one reading from a book and the other opening a coffin afterwords. From the coffin comes yet another skeletal creature. Before Serbitar can react he is startled to see a menacing figure appear in the room. This man berates the other 2 men, saying that it has been 4 years and that they should have the treasure of Hazuth Kleg by now. They explain that they don’t have the skeletal creatures aren’t sufficient to penetrate Hazuth’s walls. The menacing figure contemplates this for a moment, then draws a dagger and plunges it into one of the men. As he dies, the menacing figure says a few words over his corpse and it starts to writhe and transform. He tells the other man to use that (pointing at the now writhing blob) when it’s fully ready along with the skeletal creatures and they’re sure to succeed. At this point the menacing figure notices Serbitar in his earth elemental form and finally Serbitar sees his face…it’s his father, the necromancer in the north and controller of endless undead hordes.

Serbitar returns to Hazuth Kleg and tells the heroes of his trials and they decide to take this information to General Denton.

Flashbacks: Serbitar and Raven are young boys around 5 and playing knight in the forrest. They are chasing a rabbit, which is in their mind a great old wyrm, which has been terrorizing Seawell. Armed with shortspears, the boy’s slay the ancient beast and lookup on the corpse of the rabbit. Garland Tarn walks upon them and is quite saddened at what they have done, telling them that no man should ever take a life unless he was protecting or surviving. Realising that the boys are both sad and embarrassed, the old druid smiles and informs them that tonight they would have a rabbit stew for supper.

Tale of Two Cities

Centric: Patrick Hobb

A part from her appearances, Elizabeth is in fact nothing like Raven´s mother. She is in fact evil and so is her husband Hammond Tyler. They are fully aware of what The Inn is doing to people and justify it by saying that they’re in fact constraining demons from other planes. Patrick is tempted to slay Raven’s newfound family, his distaste for stripping people of their freedom being more than he can bare.

Elizabeth fully recognizes Raven as her son, but despite his attempts Raven can’t get her to act like her old self. She talks of Raven’s possibility to take over charge of Celephais, relieving his other worldly father. But when he gets home he immediately recognizes Raven as an other planar being. Later on, after some small talk, Hammond takes Raven/Phoenix aside. They go into Hammond’s study where he pores into 2 glasses an extremely expensive whiskey, explaining at the same time how costly it is. He says he certainly share that with his son, but not a 2 bid other planar trickster as Raven. Their cover being blown, Kuranes teleports the heroes back to the surface.

There Kuranes realizes that he put himself in the prison and state that the heroes found him in. He did that to himself in order to not feel the emptiness of godhood, for that was how he experienced himself, a man who had lived forever and done anything conceivable to man. Kuranes told the heroes that the he saw only way that Celephais would turn back to normal and to end his suffering, to kill him. His being alive caused him pain and he couldn’t kill himself. He asked the heroes for help. Without so much as a thought Patrick stood up and drew his sword. While the heroes were busy trying to stop him from killing Kuranes, Leon came up from behind and slew Kuranes.

Immediately The Inn vanished and the majority of the city for that matter. The city in the clouds vanished as well and the majority of Celephais’s population. Kuranes’s life was over and so was everything that he had created. There was no sign of Elizabeth, Hammond or Robert.

Angelina was furious with Leon, storming out of the tavern after ferociously hitting him. She wished for solitude, her anger with Leon’s unjust act being too much to handle at that moment. Patrick approached her, wanting to fix the now broken element within the heroes group. Raven/Phoenix arrived at the scene at that time, hearing Angelina asking Patrick to leave and him not leaving but instead attempting to fix the rift within the group. Raven approached, understanding full Angelina’s anger. He had just lost his mother, again, and now a grandfather to boot! Although they weren’t going through the same pain and anger, Raven realized that he just wanted to be alone too. So he told Patrick to leave her be and seeing the anguish in Raven’s face Patrick listened. Raven asked if he could stay and Angelina and he stayed at the beach that night.

Flashback:
Patrick remember when serving in a City, his commander in the Watch, gives him a job of going to the nearby kingdom and escort back one Alexandre Manette. He had a brief love affair with Manette’s daugther so before departing he informs her of her mission.
Arriving in the foreign kingdom he meets up with the prison warden. Manette is released into his custody and they return home. The reunion of father and daughter is quite pleasant and bring tears in to Yuri’s eyes.
The flashback is Yuri´s memory colliding with Patrick’s.

What Dreams May Come

Centric: Raven

Raven revels in this amazing new place, this inn in Celephais was the sort of place he’d always been looking for. But Raven wasn’t in Celephais for all that this inn could offer. He was here to find his mother and Noden told him that she would be here. With that as his focus he found a way to leave the inn, even though he couldn’t see through the illusion that it was.

At the pasture the rest of the PC´s started talking with the mythical Kuranes. They told him of the injustice going on in the city, how people were being fooled to believe that the inn was anything other than the onyx mine that it was, and used as slaves there. The PC’s tried to convince Kuranes that he was the only one with enough power to stop it permanently. But much to their dismay, Kuranes didn’t even know who he was. He had little to no memories and had no idea what the heroes meant when they said that he had awesome powers. As hard as the PC’s tried to jog his memory, Kuranes failed to remember.

Back in Celephais, Raven tries to leave the Inn. He tries to escape through the balcony but quickly fall to sleep on the street. He faintly “dreams” of a man coming to him, saying he does not belong there. Waking up, he decides to try and look for his mother in the Trade district, the leatherworkers to be more precise. There he finds Robert Moretti and soon discovers that this is his mothers father; his grandfather. This was quite a moment for Raven since he’d never met his grandfather before. He asked where Elizabeth was and got the shocking news that she was married to the Magistrate and lived in his house. Noden had told Raven that his mother would recognize him and before they left for Celephais he got Davos to help him find a sketch artist so as to draw him when he was a child. Believing that his grandfather would also recognize him he showed him the portrait and told him that he was in fact his grandson. Robert perceiving this as a cruel joke dismissed Raven abrubtly even threatening to call the guards.

The other PC’s finally made headway and Kuranes remembered some of his powers. He instantly teleported them to the city and they went to a nearby inn, not the one that was really a slave mine. Soon all the heroes were reunited as Raven came back from his grandfathers. Kuranes was practicing his powers and re-educating himself in such simple things as the taste of bread.

The PC’s discover that the city’s guards are all in a trance, they don’t seem to know where they live or why they do what they do. The Magistrate’s private guards seemed all to come from “elsewhere”, famous warriors and leaders from earth’s history. Through them they discover that the Magistrate lives in a cloud city above Celephais. Raven eager to go see his mother convinces the group to go there and with Kuranes’s help they where there in a blink of an eye.

Upon arriving at this city in the clouds they find everyone wearing white and obviously this is the upper class of Celephais. Learning the whereabouts of his mother, Raven knocks on the door, his mother answers the door. His eyes swell up and he places the portrait next to his now different face. He see’s that she recognizes him, they embrace and the swelling becomes a stream of tears. Her only words were: “How can this be?”

Flashbacks:
Raven is in a room with fellow thieves guild members and a noble tied to a chair. The guild-master is furious at this noble by the name of Hammond and instead of demanding retribution he decides to punish him. He gets his enforcer, Raven, to come and chop off his arm.

As Raven lays on the ground outside The Inn, asleep (because of the illusion), he is visited in his dream state by a familiar face. He recognizes it but can’t place where he recognizes it from. The familiar man tells him to get up, to wake up and to keep going. Snapped out of it by this man, Raven stands up and is free again.

In the last flashback Raven/Phoenix remembers sitting at an inn back in The City. He’s all torn up after his last mission for the thieves guild, his hands are shaking and he’s barely getting the very strong alcohol he’s drinking to his stomach. A fabled Assassin approaches him and tells him that be does not belong here. The assassin tells him that he dosn’t have what it takes.

An Unwarm Welcome

Centric: Alain Uskinglass

Upon reaching the harbor, Angelina thinks she noticed a city in the clouds. The other’s dismiss this notion, not seeing anything but clouds.

The heroes arrive in Celephais where they are greeted by a strict Magistrate. The group is a little taken aback, but none more than Alain. But luckily for Alain the Magistrate does not seem to remember him. There is a tight bureaucracy in this city and everyone entering must state his name, business, duration of stay and whereabouts in the city. Not having any whereabouts, he pointed the heroes to an inn where they could rest.

Upon entering the inn all but Serbitar became fascinated by it. This place is wondrous. Luxurious items all around and joy and entertainment at every corner. The feeling grew and grew and until they never wanted to leave, except Serbitar that is.
He sees this place for what it really is; a onyx mine where the guests are working as slaves. To his surprise the group display behavior that they are in fact slaves, doom to be here. He met one other at the inn who saw through this illusion and that was a man by the name of Timothy.

Timothy knew of a way through an underground river, but he knew he could not swim it all the way. Serbitar, transforming himself into a water elemental, had no problem swimming with everyone out, except for Raven. Serbitar believed that Raven would get out on his own, knowing that his need to find his mother would show him the way.

The heroes escape route led them to a small pond, in a grassland with a small cottage near by. They scouted the surroundings and found out that it was a box, to every direction there was a wall which looked like an ongoing countryside. Finally, they knocked on the door and a man answered.

Flashbacks: Alain (about 16) is working at the bar in Seawell when he notices a fair maiden. She literally drags him out of the bar and into a room where they make passionate love.
After the climax, they are cuddling. In walks her father whom Alain had noticed before in the bar along with his entourage. He is furious about her losing her virginity ranting about the repercussion of this. He cannot present her such to his superior. His adviser points out to bring the young lad (Alain) as a peace offering, branding him a rapist and setting the father free. The father promptly hits his adviser and throws him out. Reluctantly he dismisses Alain, saying that he (the father) will face the repercussion of his daughter’s and Alain´s deeds.

Centric: Serbitar

The deity in the mountain introduces himself as Noden, the Lord of the Abyss. The PC’s are surprised, expecting to find Karakal. Sylvia is shocked. As the conversation continues the PC’s learn that Noden knows who summoned them to this world, but not willing to depart these information to the unworthy. Angelina accepts the quest to rescue a friend of Noden’s without conferring to her companions who promptly throws them out of his realm, to Patrick’s great dismay.

Finding themselves in The Accursed Valley, they set out to find Nodens’ friend, kidnapped by “walking snakes”. Serbitar takes the lead and scouts the surroundings transforming himself into a wolf for the first time. He finds an abandoned temple where a great number of evil Serpent People have an unconscious man, ready to sacrifice him to an unknown deity.

Forming a plan to rescue the man, Raven skulks toward the temple. Leon however, thinking about his beloved Sylvia soon looses his patient and charges the Serpents. The battle is hard and the serpents are powerful sorcerers, summoning some kind of hellhounds that wreak havoc. The PC’s emerge victorious but at a great prize, Patrick is dead.

After a grieving period, the PC’s inspect the man. Not being able to lift so much as a finger on his body, he awakes upon the removal of a peculiar necklace. He introduces himself, his name so strange that the PC’s were unable to remember or repeat it, so he referred himself as Yuri. Upon hearing about Patrick’s sacrifice, Yuri ceremoniously rips up his ribcage and removing a strong bright light from his own chest, placing it in this burned corpse that once was Patrick. Miraculously Patrick regenerates and gains his strength, the stranger Yuri weakens greatly.

Flashbacks: Young Serbitar (about 6) and young Raven are running through the forest with spears chasing a rabbit. They are of course great knights in pursuit of a dragon which they slay. Garland Tarn arrives and tells the boys, that all lives are sacred and no-one should take more then he needs in the never ending circle of life. When he notice how bashful the two boys are, he smiles, kindly asking if they would like a rabbit stew.

A very young (age 2) Serbitar is in his father’s keep. A cat comes to him, and after receiving a gentle pat, tells Serbitar that his father is coming to kill him. The nanny tries to shoo the cat but the cat hisses at her. Serbitar grabs his teddy bear and heads out of the room. Moments later his father arrives in the room, grasping a ceremonial dagger in his fist.
